About StartUp
StartUp is a documentary series about entrepreneurial life. The show has been downloaded tens of millions of times since its launch in 2014. Its first season has been adapted into an ABC sitcom called Alex, Inc. starring Zach Braff. StartUp has won a Gracie Award and the Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism.

The Team
Lisa Chow
Lisa is co-host of StartUp. Previously, she was a senior editor at FiveThirtyEight and a reporter at NPR’s Planet Money and WNYC. She has an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Luke Malone
Luke is a producer at StartUp. Before joining Gimlet, he reported and produced stories for This American Life, Showtime, The Atlantic, and Channel 4, among others.
Molly Messick
Molly is a senior producer at StartUp. Before Gimlet, she worked at public radio member stations and as a producer for Morning Edition. Her work has appeared on Morning Edition, All Things Considered, Marketplace, and others.
Simone Polanen
Simone is an Associate Producer at StartUp. Prior to Gimlet, Simone taught English in South Korea and made short films about dancers and sad youths.
Sara Sarasohn
Sara Sarasohn is an editor at Gimlet. In 25 years in public radio, she was an intern, booker, producer, director, editor, mentor and managing director. She’s a fourth generation Californian.
Lauren Silverman
Lauren is a senior producer at StartUp. Before that, she covered health and technology for NPR, Marketplace and KERA in Dallas. You can also hear her stories on shows like Here & Now, Latino USA, Science Friday and The Pulse. Lauren’s favorite birthday game is the treasure hunt and her preferred party favor is silly putty.
Amy Standen
Amy is a SF Bay Area-based reporter for StartUp. Before that, she hosted The Leap podcast and also the science video series Deep Look, both for KQED.
Bruce Wallace
Bruce is a producer at StartUp. Previously he contributed to PRI’s The World, Radio Diaries, and NPR, among others.
