[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>>RACHEL: Hi there! Do you know what time it is?

>>ROBOT: Standby for confirmation.

>>RACHEL: It’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show. It’s Robot week and tonight we have even more I-spies for you!

Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side, but don’t brush too hard.

>>KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

[THEME SONG ENDS]

>>RACHEL: Here’s your first I Spy:

I’m in a room and I see a person sitting on a bed. But it’s not a bedroom. The bed is covered with a long sheet of paper.

[PAPER RUSTLING]

>>RACHEL: There’s another person sitting on a stool wearing a white coat. He’s asking the person on the bed questions about how she feels, and typing the answers on a computer.

What kind of place do I Spy?

>>GROUP: The doctor’s office!

>>RACHEL: The doctor’s office.

Switch to the other side of the top of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and brush in little circles around each tooth.

Robots are used in medicine today in many different ways.

Artificial Intelligence machines are used in medicine to learn about the human body. These robots help doctors figure out what’s wrong with sick people.

Teeny tiny robots called NANOBOTS are being designed to help doctors with surgery!

>>KID: WOW!

>>RACHEL: And there’s a humanoid robot named MEDi who helps kids feel better at the doctor by playing with them.

Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and keep brushing!

Here’s your next I Spy:

I’m looking at a building that’s bigger than a house, but not nearly as big as a skyscraper. Lots of kids are walking into the building. And many of them are wearing backpacks and holding lunch boxes.

What kind of place do I Spy?

>>GROUP: A School!

>>RACHEL: A school. Teachers are using robots to make learning fun in the classroom.

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and brush your front teeth too.

Teachers are using talking robots, like one named Pepper, as classroom helpers. Pepper is a robot that looks like a person but has wheels instead of legs. Pepper was built to show EMPATHY. Empathy is a feeling that helps one person understand what another person is feeling. So, if Pepper can tell you’re feeling sad…

[CRYING SOUNDS]

>>RACHEL: He’ll talk to you to feel better. Or he might do a silly dance to cheer you up!

[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>>RACHEL: That’s it for Chompers tonight.

>>KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
